Search Engine Optimisation
In order to promote the ranking of your website by the different search engines, it is important to consider search engine optimisation as a basic design tenet. Some of the key factors in helping your website have a good 'position' (i.e. close to the top!) when a potential client is using key words within a search engine are:
- Quality content
- Uncomplicated pages with the focus of the page on the content
- A clear and easy to use navigation structure
- Have page titles, image ALT tags and page META tags that are relevant to the keywords in the content text;
- Hyperlinks from text rather than graphics (especially not from Macromedia Flash graphics);
- A page format that does not use frames;
- Use the H1, H2, H3, etc. HTML tags to emphasise the key words and phrases in the content
- Relevant links, promoting customer interest and possibly improving page rank;
- Publication of the prototype web site on our site, so that it can be viewed by the client and ‘fine-tuning’ can be performed.
- Publication of the web site on the web host used by the client. If the client does not yet have a domain name (e.g. www.clientcompany.co.uk ) or a web host, we can arrange this for you.
- Submit the website details to the major search engines and directories
Are we any good at optimising websites for Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc??
