We aim to help people to promote their business via the Internet, having a website that is a ‘shop window’ for existing customers or one that attracts new customers who are ‘surfing’ the internet via a search engine such as Google.
Designing and publishing a website from scratch involves the following steps:
1. Meeting with the client to establish the scope of the project. This includes defining the audience the web site is aimed at, discussion of the style the client would prefer (probably incorporating aspects of the existing house style and logos currently employed in other company publications). The number of pages, page layout, graphics, photographs, customer feedback forms, non-HTML content such as Flash, etc., needs to be determined. Links to other websites that will assist in the promotion of the client’s company need to be included. This meeting will establish the timescale of the project as well as its cost.
2. Drafting some ideas for possible designs. This includes drafts of page layout, graphics, forms and an outline navigation structure and overview of the whole web site.
3. Feedback from the client, stating which drafts to develop in detail, with a view to have the website optimised for search engines.
